“Preach”

Social media today is definitely more influential than it was intended to be at first, or maybe its just how i see it. Take for instance the recent case of “Cocky Mcswagsalot” might sound like a dumb name if you have no clue already who she is but this “extra-regular person” started off a chain of tweets about how she felt about juror b37 (the juror whose opinion was a decider in the case against George Zimmerman) getting into talks about a book deal, after exclusively having interviews on CNN. The juror was becoming an overnight anonymous celebrity over a ruling that shocked a good portion of the whole world. Mcswagsalot would eventually put out a petition appealing for signatories against the book deal, a little feat at first but it went viral and would eventually be a vital blow in ensuring that the attention sloring juror got her deal turned down and in a public statement withdrew from writing the book.

I wasnt conversant with the case at the start as such but later on when i did read more about it, this was way too inspiring to ignore, it goes to show that there is a system that works, a system that isn’t based on “man’s” planning but God‘s, a system that supports one voice, irrelevant at the start, but would make an impact so vital, if not taking into consideration would have been detrimental and would warrant a credibility check on the juror’s handling a case as important as Trayvon Martin‘s. I mean…The case just got over and dealing with the judgement passed is hard on the family of the victim and all well meaning human beings all across the world, now this? the vital juror who’s decision allegedly decided the case, putting out a book deal of the ordeal she and her husband went through? really?. Astonishing as it might sound Mcswagsalot overcame in the end and gained an enviable amount of popularity both on and off twitter, in such a short span of time. The jury might have failed to convict a murderer, but this ensured b37 wouldn’t succeed in monopolizing the case.

As a people, we always can make an impact through cordial means, backed by a good cause in defense of a system being turned upside down. This brings me to the point of this blog post – In retrospect, with immense appreciation to our followers on all our social presences – we disregard that we are above a notch because of our teeming fan base on social media and rather appeal individually, to make an impact and stand for Equality whenever we can, It starts with 1…just 1
